What Data We Store

The extension stores only one setting: whether the feature is enabled or disabled. This is saved using Chrome’s built-in chrome.storage.sync API. This setting contains no personal information and is managed entirely by Chrome. It can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the extension.

How The Extension Works

When enabled, Invisible Selection applies a small local CSS rule to webpages so the text selection highlight becomes transparent. This is a visual-only change. The extension does not read, extract, or send page content.

Why The Extension Needs Access To Websites

Invisible Selection needs website access so it can apply the visual selection-hiding CSS on webpages. This permission is used only for the extension’s visible feature and not for collecting data. Without this permission, the extension cannot function.

Chrome Web Store & Limited Use Policy Compliance

Invisible Selection strictly complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Limited Use requirements:

• We only access web pages to apply the user-requested selection style.
• We never sell, transfer, or monetize user data.
• We never use or transfer data for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, or lending.
• No external or remote code is executed; all code is bundled locally.

Data Retention & Deletion

Because we do not collect any personal data or transmit information to external servers, we retain no user data. The local toggle preference is stored within your Chrome sync profile and is permanently deleted when you remove or uninstall the extension from Chrome.

Third-Party Services

Invisible Selection does not use analytics, advertising networks, tracking tools, remote APIs, or external servers. The extension operates 100% offline after installation.

Data Sharing

No data is shared with any third party because no data is collected.
